Volunteer

Dr. Phoebe Brown of Edmond explains why she volunteers with MobileSmiles

We continually look for dental professionals to volunteer across the state with the MobileSmiles Oklahoma program. If you are interested in volunteering, the current opportunities are listed below and will continue to be updated as new sites are added.

There are many reasons why Oklahomans do not or cannot access dental care. Our goal is to provide them with needed care and education they are not currently receiving.

Opportunity Descriptions

Volunteer Dentist - Treats the most emergent need(s) of the patient(s); uses paper charts to track treatments. Must have current Oklahoma Dental License and professional liability insurance.

Volunteer Hygienist - Can provide any reversible dental treatment such as cleanings, sealants, and fluoride varnish. Can also provide dental screenings. During treatments, must carry own professional liability insurance and provide a copy to MobileSmiles.

Volunteer Assistant - Assists dentist(s) and/or hygienist(s) in treatments. Can provide expanded duty functions if current Oklahoma certification is held. Certificate copies or permits must be provided to MobileSmiles. Can also sterilize instruments and prep/clean operatories.

Volunteer Dental/Pre-Dental Student - Students can observe treatments and if dentist or hygienist is comfortable, assist chairside only. Current 3rd and 4th-year dental students can provide treatments provided a preceptor observes their work. Current dental students can use expanded duties as a dental assistant provided their certificates/permits are current.

Other - Oral health educators, etc.
